There is an increased interest by mineral importing countries, consumer facing companies and investors to understand how sustainable their supply chains are. As a result, due diligence laws and sustainable procurement practices are being implemented by governments. Voluntary sustainability initiatives and certification schemes are gaining steam in the private sector.
MinSus familiarises mining stakeholders in the Andean Region with these international trends. Through pilots, the program explores how these can better account for requests in mining regions, be used to inform local sustainability initiatives, and promote access to information and participation. Furthermore, MinSus promotes the creation of economic linkages and supply chain developments from the mining sector.
